Novellea Halloween Prompt 2026: the rules

Who runs it

Novellea runs this competition. It's free to enter and you don't need to buy anything.

How to enter

• Publish a story for the Halloween prompt on Novellea between Monday 19 October and Sunday 25 October 2026 (UK time).

• Anyone with a Novellea account can enter. The story has to be your own work.

• Every story you publish for the prompt in that week is an entry.

How the winners are chosen

• Novellea's pick: we read every entry and choose our favourite. We'll announce it by Monday 2 November.

• Readers' pick: the entry with the most likes when reading closes on Sunday 1 November.

• One story can win both.

• We can remove an entry that breaks our community guidelines, or that we think got likes from fake or duplicate accounts.

The prizes

• Novellea's pick wins a Novellea Halloween shirt in their size, posted anywhere in the world, and 12 months of Novellea's subscription.

• The readers' pick wins 12 months of Novellea's subscription.

• The subscription goes on the account that published the story. If you already pay for a subscription, we'll sort out the best way to give you the year.

• There's no cash alternative.

Claiming your prize

• We'll email the winners at the address on their account. Reply within 14 days with your shirt size and postal address, or we may choose another winner.

• If you're under 18, we'll need your parent's or guardian's OK before you send us an address.

• We only use your address to post the shirt, and we delete it once it's sent.

 

Your story

Your story stays yours. When we announce the winners, we may show the title, your name and a short quote from it.

 

Changes

If something outside our control gets in the way, we may change the dates or the prizes, or call the competition off. We'll say so in the app if we do.
